News from Mrs. Pattison

Along with the arrival of spring we also have the annual increase in children and family events that seem to happen when the weather changes. In the end of winter it always seems like a good idea to sign up for soccer and baseball and the school play but in reality things seem to start spinning faster for many of our families this time of year. I think it is the nature of living in the Northeast. When winter ends, we just want to take advantage of every opportunity to be out in the sunshine.

These activities can be wonderfully enriching for our children. They can be exhausting too! I know that I have become caught up in the momentum many times myself. My only advice is to try to live in the moment and enjoy the time you spend with your children. As for school and the effect crazy schedules can have on the children, please try to make sure they still get plenty of sleep and healthy food. We still have so much learning to do before the end of the school year!

I am going to make one more pitch asking you all to join us for the 10 year gala/auction celebration on May 31st. Although we use the term gala it really is a fairly informal community event. It is a fun event with lots of unique auction items. How would you like to have Mrs. “B” make your child’s lunch for a week? How about having your child be Academic Director for a day? And who couldn’t resist a trip into the atmosphere in a hot air balloon? There will also be artwork made by the children in multi-age groups. Lastly, you may have seen the baskets in the entranceway that feature many wonderful travel packages with all of the fixings. The gala committee has worked very hard to make this event special and I thank them for their time and energy. Look for an email next week from the school that announces the beginning of the online auction at www.taylorschoolauction.cmarket.com

Rest assured that your email address will be completely protected as laid out in our contract with this company that specializes in non-profit fund raising.

The gala is our major fund raiser of the year and we need to whole community to invite their circle of friends and neighbors to ensure its success. Thank you!

Over the next 2 months we will see each other at plays, picnics and celebrations. These events are the culmination of a full year of nurturing joyful learners. I am so proud of all of our students and all that they have accomplished – and I am sure that you will be too.

News from Mrs. Magoolaghan

Dear Families,

As the school year begins to wind down there are some “housekeeping” activities that need to be attended to.  At this time, I would like to ask for your assistance in returning all books that belong to the Taylor School.  We are pleased that we have so many quality books to share with you.  However, we do need the books returned so that others may enjoy them in the future. Please take a few minutes to search bookshelves and bins throughout your home.  Taylor School books are marked with a sticker on the spine.  The books can be returned to the basket in the library at any time.  Thank you for your assistance in keeping our library complete.

I will be managing the return of current textbooks and the reordering of new textbooks for all districts.    Each district has different policies and procedures regarding textbooks and it is easier if I manage this at a school level. Please disregard any notices you receive from your home district about textbook returns. If you receive a notice about a lost textbook, please forward this information to me.

Finally, I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events (see the May/June calendar or check the website under ‘Parents’). Although this is a busy time of year, I hope you will be able to spend some time with the Taylor School community as we celebrate our talents.  Enjoy the mild weather!
