February 2010
News from the Head of School
Happy February! Despite the cold, the children have been able to bundle up and be outside for recess most of the days in January. It does so much to brighten their moods and put roses in their cheeks. Please continue to send in their cold weather gear so that they can be comfortable outside.
The children all were ecstatic to be back in school and back to normal routines after winter break. Our new enrichment schedule has begun and the children are excited to have new options for afterschool learning. Much thanks to Kelly who is the mastermind of this schedule. It requires a lot of work and networking to be sure that we have the right offerings and a place to have them! I am excited that we have contracted with some outside community organizations for after school enrichment. Both the Children’s Museum of Science and Technology (CMOST) and the Arts Center of the Capital Region offer us much in their areas of expertise.
Speaking of CMOST, you will soon be receiving an invitation to join the honorary committee for this year’s “Create and Innovate” celebration dinner on May 15th. We will be honoring CMOST for their commitment to providing science and technology experiences to families of the Capital Region. Invitations to the event, which will be held at the Troy Country Club, will go out in early April. I hope that you can support this celebration in any way possible. The money raised at this fundraiser is vital to the fiscal sustainability of our school. To our new families, please know that this is a fun and informal event that gives our school community a chance to be together and celebrate our children’s success as well as the school.
Remember – 48 days until spring!
Warm regards,
Wendy
