Dear Families,

The above quote is on the front of one of the brochures we give to families who are interested in the Taylor School.  By definition enthusiasm means “strong warmth of feeling or keen interest.”  Emerson believes that strong positive feelings or a high level of interest are motivators when one is seeking to accomplish something.  This sentiment is an essential part of the Taylor School.  Our students and faculty regularly set goals and we believe those goals are best achieved when positive feelings and keen interest are an integral part of achieving those goals. This enthusiasm is also the foundation for the caring environment that is a hallmark of the school – strong warm feelings and a genuine interest naturally lead to a sense of caring.

This month many of our parents will be attending parent-teacher conferences.  The conferences provide an opportunity to meet with the most enthusiastic members of our community – our teachers. (I must also mention Mariann here – no explanation necessary!)  Evidence of their commitment to your children will be evident.  The enthusiasm our teachers bring to their classrooms sets them apart from other educators.  Their enthusiasm for learning, not only for their students but for themselves, is praiseworthy.  It is, I believe, one of the characteristics that makes the Taylor School different from other schools.  Enthusiasm is a key element in fulfilling our mission, Nurturing Joyful Learners. As you read through this newsletter, please take note of all that is being done in the classrooms – you can’t miss the enthusiasm!
