News from Pre-K
April was fun and busy in Pre-K. This month began with a study of Spring and the changes that occur during this season. We had fun noticing the changes as they happened outside our window. We also talked about Easter and Passover, the holidays that are in this month. When we returned from break, we were rested and ready for a space mission. We have been exploring outer space. We have explored the many planets and stars in our galaxy. Our dramatic play center is a space ship complete with telescopes and space suits for the children to investigate. The boys and girls have been having so much fun on their trips to the moon, Saturn and other places they imagine.
We will start May off with a May Day celebration. Our class was invited to join Emma Willard students in their festivities. We have been working hard on our props to wear for the celebration.
Upon our return from space next week, we will prepare to dive into the ocean with a study of the ocean. We will explore the many fascinating animals and creatures that live there. We will also study ponds so that we can compare and contrast these two aquatic habitats.
I can’t believe that this year is almost over but we aren’t slowing down yet. We are looking forward to two field trips and our class play. We will see the Albany Symphony Orchestra perform Peter and the Wolf and the play If You Give a Pig a Pancake at Palace Theatre. I hope this will help the children prepare for our class play. The children are working very hard to learn the songs in our musical interpretation of some of Aesop’s Fables. What a wonderfully exciting and productive year it has been. The children have grown and learned so much. I know we will finish with a bang!
Happy Summer,
Emily LaLone and Kate Gregg
