News from Preschool
What a great time we had with the Dinosaur Unit these past few weeks. The children were so interested and learned so many new facts and characteristics of the giant creatures of long, long, ago.
Just like the real dinosaurs, they have become extinct and disappeared from our classroom. The final week of April will be filled with spring activities as we learn the parts of a plant, plant seeds, and play in the dirt. The children enjoyed playing in the flower shop that our HVCC student, Emily, brought in to share.
Following the excitement of Pajama Read-in Day on Friday, April 30, our focus will turn to a unit on Australia. We will be joining with Pre-K as we learn about this continent country, and focus on some amazing animals that live there. Our study will culminate in a “Country Parade” on May 12th, a time for sharing all we’ve learned.
Late May will find us returning closer to home with a farm theme and some language arts activities based on favorite picture books. I anticipate our final unit will be about the ocean as we look forward to summer.
In the final months of school we are challenging the children to do their best “work” as they complete tasks and projects in the classroom. Their imagination and creativity is a joy to watch in their activities as well as their dramatic play. It is hard to believe the year is coming to a close so very soon.
Enjoy the wonderful spring weather,
Karen & Lisa
