November 2009

Parent Page

  • Please remember to change your child’s clothing in their cubby.  Winter is here and parents should change the clothing from shorts to pants and please provide extra socks for those wet feet after recess!

We go outside every day for recess unless it is too cold.  Please be sure your child has a hat, mittens and coat every day!
  • Our school nurse will be doing vision and hearing screenings on all students K-6th grade in early December.
  • Harvest Feast will be for all families on Tuesday, November 24th.  This is a wonderful chance for families to come and share thanks with one another.  All classes prepare their own food for the gathering.  Please plan on joining us.  We will need volunteers for setting up and cleaning up.  If you’d like to volunteer, please let Rachel (PTO), Kelly or Mariann know!
  • December Lunch menus will be due on November 24th.
  • Bottle Drive for the 5-6 Class – week of Nov. 2nd.  Bring in your deposit only bottles and put them in the large bins behind the dumpster.  The 5-6 class is using the proceeds toward their end of the year field trip.  So far, they have collected $101.50.
  • Snow Delay and Closing Information
The safety of our students, families, faculty, and staff is our main concern in bad weather.  Please do not drive if conditions are dangerous!  In the event of bad weather, please tune to your local news channel (6,9,10, or 13),  or radio station (WROW, FLY 92, B95.5, JAM 96.3, SMOOTH JAZZ 104.9 and WGY) to see if school is cancelled.  We generally follow the Troy School District closings and early dismissals.

The Susan Odell Taylor School will try not to have a delayed opening.  If the district in which you live has a delay, you may follow their delay schedule.  If we have to cancel Before Care, it will be announced on the TV or radio.
  • In the event of districts calling for early dismissal, we will not release your child to ride and early bus unless we have contacted you directly.  If we cannot reach you, we will keep your child at school.

If the Taylor School has an early dismissal, we will call you to let you know and will expect you to make every effort to pick up your child as soon as possible.  If someone rather than you or your usual transportation person will be transporting your child, you must confirm by phone before we will release your child.
