financial aid to current and prospective students and their families. Fundraising for the Susan Odell Taylor School’s financial aid program is an annual priority. In 2008, over 20% of Taylor families were awarded financial assistance.

  • Annual financial aid fund raising goal $20,000
  • Donations at all levels are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Enrichment
So much of our students’ joy for learning comes from our teachers’ creative use of literature, art, field trips, music and more. The playground and physical education program are also canvases of creativity and exploration and opportunities to build character. There are many ways to help support the school’s enrichment programs. Here are just a few:

  • Music Program $10,000
  • Creative Movement Program $10,000
  • Art Education $10,000
  • Physical Education Program $10,000
  • Field Trip Fund $5,000
  • Odyssey of Mind Competition $2,500
  • Olympics of the Visual Arts Competition $2,000
  • Summer Enrichment Camp Scholarships $3,000

Playground Fun and Learning
Some of our student’s fondest memories center around one key area of the school – our
playground. While our students are hard at play, they are exercising their minds and bodies in ways that promote the greatest kind of physical and mental health. The Taylor School is in need of a number of playground improvements, including:

  • A large slide for our older students, and more opportunities for climbing and building upper body strength. $24,000

Technology
Preparing our students to be productive 21st Century thinkers and learners is an important part of our curriculum. In addition to having the
technology we need for our students, the school’s infrastructure must also reflect the times and meet the communication needs of our families. Our technology goals include:

  • Obtain and implement a new server and domainbased network environment
  • Photo printer/scanner workstation
  • Student laptops: A clean reinstallation of the current operating system, and the phase-in of new laptop computers for our students
  • Replacement of classroom computer-systems, to be phased in each year over the next three years
  • Database system for better student management and admissions processes
  • Installation of smart board teaching systems Donation needed: $40,000 and in kind contributions

Taylor Library
The addition of our new classroom space in the 2006/07 school year opened new possibilities for our
school library. Our goal is to create a reading environment that supports our students’ love for reading and opens doors to creative discussion and discovery for children in all grades. For our library to reach its potential, it must be sufficiently stocked with literature, well maintained and staffed.

  • Library database system, staff and equipment $15,000

Staff Development and Cultivation
Recruitment, training and recognition for our school’s greatest resource–its teachers–is a high priority for the Taylor School every year. We welcome and encourage any and all gifts to support our school’s
staff development and recruitment programs.
