On Tuesday, October 18th the Taylor School opened its doors to members of the community. Along with board members and several staff, thirteen members from the busine= ss community, public service officials, and community volunteers cam= e to our "Meet the Taylor School" event. After receiving a warm welcome and a touching testimonial from Mike Fanning, board member, guests were given a tour of the school.&nb= sp; Our guests were impressed with what they saw and learned about our wonderful school. You can be sure they witnessed moments of "joyful learning" during their visit.=

We had fun trying lots of new and different vegetables we never tried before at our very special Vegetarian Lunch Buffet.

Thanks to a Pepsi R= efresh Everything Grant received by Peggy Kownack, the Taylor School will be participating in a wonderful music program on the afternoon of October 28th. Dr. Steven Elisha (a native of T= roy) will be bringing his Mr. Cello program to our kids. Dr. Elisha was educated in both the Lansingburgh & Troy scho= ol districts. His Mr. Cello program is designed to spark childr= en's imagination & creativity through music.

Mr. Cello Stories, created by Steven Elisha, is a program designed for audiences of = all ages including elementary, middle school, high school and students with exceptional abilities. Spontaneity and improvisation form the centerpiece for his musical performances that interweave storytel= ling and creative interplay. He first demonstrates the beauty and unique qualities of the cello which is followed by a fun, interactive, improvisational activity incorporating members of the audience.

In addition to performing at the Taylor School, Dr. Elisha will also= be part of The Uptown Troy Community Harvest Festival. The festival is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 29th with t= he day's festivities being FREE for all children of Troy. The festiv= al itself will have games, food, bounce houses, an obstacle course, = arts & crafts & live entertainment all at no charge to the attendees.

Halloween is= fast approaching, and students are already excited about the annual Ta= ylor School Halloween Parade and Sing-A-Long!<= /span>

Immediately following the parade, we will all gather in the Common Room for a sing-a-long. All classroom celebrations will happen in= the classrooms before the parade. <= /span>

Our Annual Fund Campaign is now underway. Parents, staff, alumni, community members, friends and family can impact the lives of our students and in turn the greater community by contributing to this campaign. Like most independent schools, tuition covers only a portion of our annual operating expenses. Fundraising projects and contributions are vital to the success of our school to close this gap. This year, our school has two goals: to raise $18,000 and to achieve 1= 00% participation by members of our school community -- families, trustees, staff, and teachers.<= /span>
