Susan Odell Taylor School for Children

ParentsParents

Our parents and caregivers take their decision to send their child to an independent school seriously and, not surprisingly, give much of themselves every day, in many ways, to be an active part of their child’s school experience.

The partnership between our parents and caregivers and the Taylor School is a very important part of our students’ success. The greatest contributions are those everyday things our parents do to prepare our students to learn.   A healthy breakfast, a hug before school, celebrating your child’s school work, meeting your child’s eyes as they perform at the school play, and providing encouragement to work through challenges – all make a huge difference to your child’s academic experience and joy for learning.

We welcome and encourage parent and caregiver involvement in the classroom and school-wide activities, PTO committees and special events, and fund raising projects. Volunteering time on field trips, donating books to our library, bringing in baked goods, sharing your talents with your child’s classroom, and sharing your ideas with us -- makes a difference to our students and our entire school community.

Most of all, we welcome and encourage an open line of communication between our parents and teachers, and our Academic Director.  In addition to holding two parent-teacher conferences a year, we are in regular communication about developments in our classrooms and encourage your questions and conversations about your child’s progress.
