What We Do

PTO activities can be broken down into three main areas:

  1. Community Building
  2. Fundraising
  3. Family Involvement

Our community building activities are designed to foster supportive relationship among our families. These activities include events such as family story night, family swim time, bowling, and even leaf jumping! The PTO communicates by email to our families with times, dates and details. The children get to play and share time with their families and the parents get a chance to connect as well.

The PTO's fund raising work often has the added benefit of engendering a lot of great school spirit. In recent years, the money raised by the PTO has supported our science program and playground, and resulted in supporting our curriculum through special educational programs. Fund raising activities have included:

  • Mum Sale
  • Family Fun activities including: Family Bowling,  Willard Mountain Family Tubing and Trampoline Night
  • CLYNK bottle return

The PTO welcomes and enjoys new energy and fund raising ideas.

It is important for us to both nurture our students, and to provide opportunities for us to grow as an intellectual community. The PTO plays an important role in providing wonderful forums for family involvement through open discussions on timely education and developmental issues. The goal is to provide opportunities for discussion and reflection for parents by including sometimes opposing research and expert opinions. The PTO has hosted round table discussions with parents and academic leaders on subjects including:

  • Gender and Education
  • The Value of Homework in Elementary School Learning - a review of the research
  • Family and Children's Nutrition
